<h2>ACER SHIR. MOONRISE</h2> <p><strong>Acer shirasawanum 'Moonrise'</strong> is a slow-growing, deciduous Japanese maple valued for its elegant branching and striking seasonal foliage. Plant in light shade with shelter from drying winds, in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil that is preferably acidic to neutral. Avoid chalky conditions. Its refined habit makes it an excellent specimen for gardens where its foliage can be appreciated up close.</p> <p><strong> To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. It performs best in Ireland in a sheltered position with sun or light shade, ideally protected from cold, drying winds. Plant in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil that is preferably slightly acidic. Minimal pruning is needed beyond removing dead, damaged or crossing shoots in late autumn or winter.
